Oh, and did I mention that the shooting in Florida that happened yesterday was the 18th lethal mass shooting in America this year. Bearing in mind that we've only had 46 days of this year so far, so that's a shooting every 2 and a half days.
So, to all of my American watchers who read this, I hope you are angry about this. The NRA have your country in a choke hold because they managed to get ammendments made to legislation preventing not only enactment of gun regulation, but research into gun violence as a whole. And they keep these in place not by buying congressmen (though they do that plenty, but they're not even close to being the top lobbying group by spending or even by membership), but by being in constant contact with those in power whenever any vote on the subject comes up. So you can be as angry as you want whenever there is a shooting, but remember this. There will be no change in America because the NRA want to stop gun legislation more than you want to stop gun violence. Unless you want to call your congressman or congresswoman each and every day (or every other day) and remind them to repeal all of the NRA backed legislation and ammendments. Make it part of your daily routine or something, annoy them into doing something. Don't email them or tweet/ facebook them, because you're going to get through to their secretary or social media manager or something like that. Call them, make them know personally how you feel. Because whenever gun control comes up as a topic for debate in the house, whenever serious legislation is considered, the majority of calls that all representatives get are from NRA members, because they are motivated and no-one else can be bothered. You want to stop gun violence, get involved. ANd if your congressperson takes major campaign finance from the NRA, vote them out of office as soon as possible, get someone who is anti-shoot-everyone and then call them every day to sort out this shit show. It's the only way anything will get done.
UPDATE: Just incase anyone is wondering, here's a list of the 20 Congressmen/ Women who recieved the most campaign "donations" from Gun Advocacy groups during the 2016 elections, where they represent and how much they were paid not to care about your childrens lives.
