Crash Bandicoot And Spyro The Dragon: Enter The Shadow Realm
Outline
In the dragon worlds the Professor is working on a new gadget with help from Flame and Ember, whilst Cynder watches. Spyro, Sparx and Hunter enter with Zoe following, Hunter carrying a power crystal. They hand the crystal to the Professor and Spyro asks what they are doing. The Professor explains that he is trying to create a new super portal that will connect all of the dragon kingdoms. He then puts in a new power crystal as the power stabilizer.
Meanwhile, on N.Sanity Island, Cortex and his team are putting the finishing touches to a new death ray, using the pink crystals as a power source, when suddenly Crash, Coco, Crunch and Aku-Aku burst through the door. Cortex curses them and tells Tiny and Dingodile to destroy them whilst he and N.Gin finish the machine.
As the Professor makes the final calculations, Ripto and his two henchmen, Crush and Gulp, burst through the door. Ripto tries to grab the power crystal, saying he will use it to take over the dragon kingdoms, but the Professor tries to wrestle the crystal away from him. The machine accidentally activates and drags the Professor and Ripto through a portal, everyone else following.
In Cortex’s lab, the battle is going badly for Cortex’s Team and just to make things worse, Crunch throws Tiny into the machine, accidentally pressing a button as he falls. Cortex exclaims ‘Tiny, what did you do?” as a similar portal opens up and sucks everyone in the room in.
The heroes all wake up in a dark medieval looking courtyard, the sky above is purple and everything seems to be very shadowy. Both teams check to see if their friends are all right before noticing each other and facing off. However this is interrupted when the Professor realizing that they’ve been dragged through to another dimension. Both teams wonder out loud where they could be, before Cynder suggests they are in the Shadow Realm. Spyro asks the Professor if the machine could take them back home but the Professor says that the crystal is broken and without the crystals the machine wouldn’t work.
Meanwhile, in an even darker part of the Shadow Realm, the villains wake up. Both have a face off, accusing the other of being the cause of their current predicament, neither noticing a large pair of red eyes watching with interest. Tiny and N.Gin notice the eyes and try to warn Cortex, Cortex brushes Tiny off but looks when N.Gin tells him. Before either Ripto or Cortex can do anything the shadow engulfs the room and all the villains eyes start to glow red.
Back with the heroes, the teams are despondent that there is no way to get home. However, Coco then suggests that they use the pink crystals to power the machine. The Professor agrees that it may work, before Aku Aku interrupts saying that the crystals are likely scattered around the Shadow Realm. Spyro and Crash volunteer to go find them, to which the Professor agrees. He then suggests that the teams split up, Hunter and Cynder going off to find out what happened to Ripto, whilst Crunch volunteers to find Cortex (Flame offering to tag along as well), whilst Coco and Ember staying behind to fix the gadget.
Realizing what is going on, the villains ‘decide’ to work together. Crash and Spyro work their way through the seven levels of the Shadow Realm, fighting the villains at the end of each level (Dingodile, Crush, Tiny, Gulp, N.Gin, Ripto) before facing Cortex in the Shadow Castle. Each time a villain is defeated, the red glow leaves their eyes. At the start of level 5, Crash and Spyro get a transmission from the Professor saying that they need Cortex’s machine to be able to send Crash’s team back, so they decide to find N.Gin.
At some point during the game, Hunter and Cynder are captured by the shadow and they are brainwashed to think that Crash is the enemy. This leads on to a solo battle from Crash against Cynder, whilst Spyro is trapped by Hunter. However, Crash is able to snap Cynder and Hunter out of the mind control and they then depart back to the Professor with the crystals that Crash and Spyro have collected.
When Crash and Spyro face Cortex in the Shadow Castle it is revealed that the main antagonist is a being known as the Shadow King, who wishes to use the portal to gain access another world. However, his prescience in another world would destroy it, so Crash and Spyro fight Cortex to stop this. However, after beating Cortex, the Shadow King is released and flees. The duo then track him down and discover he has made his own version of the Professor’s machine, which he has incorporated into his own body. However, they defeat the Shadow King. When they return to the others, the Professor has finished the machine (with the reluctant aid of N.Gin) and he says that they can return anytime they want.

Boss Fights- Setting and How to win
Dingodile (Tower Top Room)- The players must charge numerous buttons on the walls of the room, which release bombs. Crash and Spyro can then spin/ charge these bombs at Dingodile. Takes 3 attacks.
Crush (Frozen Lake)- Dodge Crush’s attacks until you see the ice weakening then make him hit the cracked ice (this should happen every 3 attacks), then he will either fall in or need to be pushed. Repeat 4 times.
Tiny Tiger (Jungle Clearing)- Tiny throws three rocks at Crash and Spyro that must be dodged. The forth rock doesn’t break on impact and must be thrown back at Tiny. However on the second time, Tiny will jump at the rock and shatter it, sending the smaller rocks at the player, so the player’s attack must be done before Tiny hits the rock. Takes four attacks to win.
Gulp (Beach)- Make Gulp charge into the coconut trees (which will fall on his head). Some of the coconuts that fall are filled with explosives (they have lit fuses). Spyro and Crash can then spit/ throw the coconuts at Gulp. Takes five on target shots to win, but half way through Gulp will start using the coconuts as well.
N.Gin (Lab )- Dodging N.Gin’s attacks, Crash and Spyro must use the crank wheels in the room to build up the power. When it is at full power the electricity will shock N.Gin’s power suit. However, they must avoid ever more accurate weapons and traps. Takes 4 shots to win.
Ripto (Inside the volcano)- Use the rocks thrown up by the volcano as projectiles against Ripto to destroy his shield, then attack using normal attacks. Repeat 4 times.
Cortex (Throne Room)- Cortex attacks using the Shadow King’s power, attacking Crash And Spyro three times before having to rest, during which Crash and Spyro attack. However, after each attack by Crash and Spyro, Cortex gains more of the Shadow King’s power, making him bigger, his attacks more powerful and his rest times shorter.
Shadow King (Bonus Level Great Hall)- Dodging the Shadow King’s numerous attacks, the duo must destroy his version of the Professors machine. After each attack on the machine, the Shadow King releases a powerful attack, which cracks the floor and kills anyone it touches. By the fourth attack the floor is pretty much only lava. The Professor and Aku-Aku provide power-ups at this point allowing Spyro to free fly and Crash to run/spin at super-speed across what remains of the floor. Takes 5 attacks to win.

I've put this up on the suggestion of my housemates, because they think it pretty cool.
I've always been a fan of the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon series, especially the original trilogies on the Playstation One, so when I replayed them both recently I decided to try writing up a crossover game concept.
Obviously I don't own the rights to any of the characters mentioned within, which belong to Activision (well..... Spyro does at least, Crash seems to have been unceremoniously dumped).

Some cool ideas - I like it a lot, and it would be awesome to see Crash and Spyro team up again.
